Design Trends for 2021

The National Kitchen + Bath Association (NKBA) conducts a survey each year to discover kitchen and bath design trends for the year. Kitchens by Oaks received our copy of the report for 2021, and we discovered that there are tons of interesting styles on the horizon. We’d love to share the information we’ve learned with you!

Kitchens

If you’re considering a kitchen remodel this year, be sure you keep COVID-19 in mind. It isn’t going anywhere just yet, and you’ll need to take it into account when making remodeling plans. It affects everything from layout to the necessary tech in your kitchen. You’ll be seeing options to help keep your counters clean and greater functionality in overall design in the coming year.

The NKBA report includes countertop, backsplash, and appliance trends for 2021, and they are amazing. We’re very excited for quartz countertops in lighter colors and slab backsplashes! And are you ready for the popularity of microwave drawers to take off?

Lighting is crucial in every kitchen. Expect to see more under-cabinet lighting, dimmer switches, and mobile device connected lighting in kitchens this year!

Baths

Homeowners are looking toward making their bathrooms bigger with new layouts, integrating technology, and adopting clean, uncluttered styles. Technology will be coming into the bathroom in a big way this year, so be ready!

Small tile mosaic will give way to large tile, slabs, and long subway tiles in showers this year. And when space allows, designers are recommending separate tubs and showers or shower-only configurations. Which arrangement would work best for you?
