Splurge-Worthy Kitchen Gifts

Whether it’s for a bridal shower, housewarming, or celebrating a new kitchen remodel, gifts for the kitchen are always appreciated. But, not every item is worth spending extra money on. For example, it’s fun to buy towels that are inexpensive and can be changed on a whim to switch up the look of the room.

What items are worth spending the extra cash on? We thought you’d never ask…

Stand Mixer

You may think a wooden spoon is just fine, but a KitchenAid stand mixer makes cooking and baking a joy. It’s sturdy — try mixing up nine dozen cookies at one time! The mixer comes with a five-quart bowl, flat beater, wire whip, dough hook, and pouring shield. Try using it for everything from making pizza dough to whipping up mashed potatoes!

Heavy-Duty Dutch Oven

A dutch oven is a heavy cooking pot, often made of cast iron, that can usually be used on the stovetop and in the oven. We use ours for pasta, braising meat, and even deep-frying. A cast-iron dutch oven that is coated with enamel is easy to clean, scratch-resistant, and will last for years.

Starter Knife Block Set

We thought our old knives were okay until we went out looking for new ones. It’s worth splurging on a really good set of basic knives for chopping veggies, fileting meats, paring fruits and vegetables, and cutting bread.

Do your research and watch for demos at your favorite kitchen stores so you can get a feel for what you’re buying. Look for a woodblock set with a chef’s knife, bread knife, serrated utility knife, paring knives, a sharpening tool, and kitchen scissors. If you’re in the market for them, some sets also include eight steak knives.

The Right Coffee Maker

Everyone has feelings about their coffee. French press, brewed, or percolated, people want their morning joe just right. If you’re giving a coffee maker as a gift, find out whether the recipient is all about espresso or more of a K-cup person. Whichever you choose, read reviews and get one that is top-of-the-line to ensure it will last.

Multitasking Toaster Oven

Why waste kitchen space on multiple appliances when today’s toaster oven can do it all? A variety of brands are making toaster ovens that do more than make toast — they bake, broil, and even air fry!

If the toaster oven is going to be used as a multipurpose cooker, it’s definitely worth it to spend more for a unit with excellent reviews, so do your research.

Splurge Away!

Remember, it makes no sense to splurge on something if you aren’t going to use it. Keep in mind your recipient’s — or your own — cooking habits and plan your shopping accordingly.
